Before Gated Lab took a single client build, the founder converted two — a Lamborghini Gallardo and an Audi R8. Both his own. Both driven like intended ever since.
That matters, because the LP Gallardo and R8 share the same 5.2L V10 platform, the same transaxle family, and the same e-gear architecture — and the Pre-LP Gallardo, with its 5.0L V10, is built on the same fundamentals with a similar transaxle configuration. Three variants, one platform, all of it learned firsthand. Every problem was solved on our own cars first. The wiring diagrams, the hydraulic routing, the clutch spec, the CAN bus quirks — all of it worked out before a client car ever came through the door. The time, the money, and the resources that go into learning a platform this deeply were spent on our cars, not yours.
What came out of it isn't just a process. It's the hard-won knowledge of what these cars actually need, where the factory got it right, and where it didn't — earned the only way it can be, by doing it, breaking it, and doing it better the next time.
And it comes from a real love for these machines. The Gallardo and R8 are, to us, the best of their kind — the last of the analog-era supercars, built around one of the greatest naturally aspirated engines ever made. Cars worth preserving. Cars worth getting right.
That's why Gated Lab takes just one conversion a month. The schedule could move faster, but it isn't meant to. One car gets our full attention while the time around it goes toward recreating the unavailable parts that keep these cars on the road — work that outlives any single build.
